Welcome to Nursery!
Our new nursery children have started this week and they are full of curiosity and energy.
Our topics this first half term include Settling In, Families and Apples. For Settling In we will be learning to share our toys with other class members, to take turns and to wait for our turn. These are important lessons that will help us throughout our lives. In Families we will be looking at our own family and our school family. We will look at similarities and differences and we also celebrate black history month and discover where in the world our own family members are from! In Apple week we will celebrate the growing of apples in this country. We will be tasting, juicing and cooking with apples, as well as counting apples on a tree.
The second half of the term we will be learning about festivals like Diwali, Fireworks Night and Christmas, and we will be exploring the topic of feelings. For Diwali we learn the story of Rama and Sita which is very exciting, we will investigate the similarities between all festivals and celebrate the things that make each special. We also learn about feelings in this term and we try to develop our ability to talk about our feelings and describe how we feel. We will have a Vet’s Surgery in our role play area to help us care about animals who cannot tell us how they feel.
Please look at our Half-Termly Curriculum Maps for more information. Please also read our Principles for Learning in the Early Years, for information on how we help children learn.
