Welcome to Reception. We hope that your child is settling in well. We look forward to working with you during the forthcoming year to enable your child to reach his/her potential.
We will start doing PE sessions on Monday 12th September. Therefore, your child must bring his/her P.E kit in a named bag on a Monday with all items of clothing also clearly labelled with his/her name. The PE kit for reception is a white t-shirt, dark blue shorts or tracksuit bottoms and black plimsolls with velcro that are easy for your child to put on independently.
Please could your child have his/her book bag in school every day, so that books and letters can be sent home.
At the end of the day please could you wait for your child in the Reception playground, so that we can easily see you. We will then
send your child out to you. As you can appreciate, our cloakroom for 60 children is very
small and can very easily become congested.
Could your child bring in a spare change of clothes in case of accidents where he/she is unable to reach the toilet in time. We have a limited supply of spare clothes in school to give out to children, so this would help alleviate this problem.
Also, if possible could you please stay with your child every Wednesday Morning 8.45-9.00 am. This is an opportunity for you to settle your child and to support your child’s learning. School does not officially start until 9.00 am.
We will also be sending home a sheet that shows you the letter formations that we will teach the children in Reception. We would appreciate your support in helping your child write his/her name using these formations.
Reading books will be sent home in a couple of weeks time, after we have assessed each child and further information about reading will be sent home then. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to speak to the Reception team.
