In Reception, all children follow a curriculum that develops seven aspects of learning:
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development
- Physical Development
- Communication and Language
- Understanding the World
- Expressive Arts and Design
We use topics to provide a context for learning and story books are often used a starting point for the development of learning. For example, the traditional tale ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’ is used to teach about story sequencing and storytelling language but is also used to teach mathematical concepts, writing skills and to engage the children in thinking about whether a character’s actions were right or wrong.
Our topics for the year are:
|Autumn 1||Autumn 2||Spring 1||Spring 2||Summer 1||Summer 2|
Going on a Bear Hunt
Jobs & People
|Planets & Aliens
Detailed information about our Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum can be found on our Curriculum Downloads page and also keep an eye on our Whole School News page for the latest reports on class, year group and whole school events.
We hope you find this information helpful and please do not hesitate to come and see a member of the Reception teaching team if you have further questions or queries.
