Welcome to Year 3
We are very excited about welcoming the children into the Juniors. During the recent Move-Up days, we were delighted to see the children settling into their new routines. In order to help with the new routines, please encourage your child to remember to bring their full PE Kit (including outdoor wear) into school each Monday. This can be taken home at the end of school on Friday and should be returned after each weekend.
Each morning, your child should bring their small yellow reading record into class. Reading at home is very important. Please encourage your child to read aloud and / or independently each evening and discuss what they have read. When your child reads aloud at home, please add a brief note (in the small yellow book) detailing the date and the page they have reached. As an extra incentive to regularly immerse themselves in a range of texts, children will earn an individual reward on our class chart (called a ‘dojo’) when they have shown that they have read at home.
In Year 3, homework is set each Thursday and should be returned the following Monday. Please encourage your child to attempt their homework and please feel free to add a note if your child found the task difficult (and required your support) or if you noticed they were particularly confident with the topic.
A short list of spellings will also be sent home to learn – and your child should apply the correct spelling of these words during independent writing.
P.E for both classes will be every Thursday. Please note Bilby Class Start swimming lessons EVERY Tuesday from the 20th September 2016 and will therefor need
- appropriate swimwear
- swimming hat ( mainly girls )
If you have anything that you wish to ask or discuss, please come and find us in Year 3.
With many thanks,
Ms Wanttaja and Ms Doffoh
