Year 4’s worship was about celebrating peace. They sang the classic hymn “Make me a channel of your peace.” It explored the history of Remembrance Day which began at the end of World War One. The first Remembrance Day was commemorated on 11th November 1919. On Remembrance Day we think of all those who have lost their lives in conflict. Conflicts, which include WWI, WWII, the Falklands war, the Gulf war and the Iraq war. It also includes the war in Ukraine, in which people are still actively fighting today. Their assembly reminds us to be grateful for times of peace and to count our blessings.
Dear God, thank you for our lives and all the blessings life brings. Thank you for our wonderful world and times of peace. We remember those whom you have saved from war into the peace of your presence, may that same peace calm our fears, bring justice to all peoples and establish harmony among the nations through Jesus Christ our Lord – Amen
