Learning
In Nursery, all children follow a curriculum that develops seven aspects of learning:
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development
- Physical Development
- Communication and Language
- Literacy
- Mathematics
- Understanding the World
- Expressive Arts and Design
We use topics to provide a context for learning and we use a selection of themed picture books and stories as starting points. For example, We start our topic on Robots with a book called Wendell’s Workshop in which an inventor, Wendell, makes a series of robots but also learns that everyone has value and things are rarely perfect in every way. This story teaches us how to plan, build, improve and value our efforts and processes not just the end results. The story covers aspects from all seven areas of learning.
Our topics for the year are:
Autumn 1 | Autumn 2 | Spring 1 | Spring 2 | Summer 1 | Summer 2 |
