Spanish Overview
Spanish is taught weekly to pupils in Key Stage Two and our curriculum is designed to ensure that our pupils develop key language learning skills set out by the national curriculum, as well as a love of languages and learning about other cultures. Children are encouraged to develop an interest in learning other languages in a way that is enjoyable and stimulating; as well as an understanding that in a multi-lingual society, it is a valuable skill to be able to communicate effectively with others in another language.
Across Key stage Two, children progressively acquire, use and apply a growing bank of vocabulary organised around a range of different topics. This allows the children to acquire new language, then use and apply it in a range of different scenarios and contexts. Children are encouraged and supported to develop their speaking and listening skills through conversational work, singing, activities and games. As their confidence and skill grows, children record their work through pictures, captions and sentences.
