Year 4 had a wonderful time visiting the River Thames near Greenwich. They pretended to be archaeologists and excavated the foreshore (official term for the bank of a river). They found pieces of tobacco pipes from the Victorian times, pieces of roof tile from the Tudor times as well as other interesting objects.
All Saints broke the current standing for the most tobacco pipe pieces found! Year 4 also learnt about the history of the Thames (dating back to prehistoric times) and the geography of the Thames. Did you know the Thames is over 215 miles long?!
