Hummingbirds Class worship was based on the Windrush Generation. They reminded us to treat everyone with respect no matter what their backgrounds.
The children took us through the excitement of setting off on a new journey full of hope to help rebuild Britain after WWII, the challenges the Windrush Generation faced when they arrived, and the how unfair the treatment they received made them feel. There was a reading of an extract from Floella Benjamin’s book, ‘Coming to England’ and a poem recital. The Class sang beautifully to the whole school, retelling the story of the Windrush Generation and sending a clear message –‘One Love’. They were fabulous!
